When, how and to whom do we give dinner money?
- School meals currently cost £1.80 per meal.
- meals must be paid for in advance either at the beginning of the week or by cheque for the half term.
- payment by cheque should be made payable to Hampshire County Council.
- payment must be place in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and class and be given in to the class teacher.
What do we do if we want to make an appointment with my child’s teacher?
-you may approach the teacher informally in the play ground, at the beginning or end of the school day, telephone the office to arrange an appointment or write to the teacher concerned.
From what time in the mornings is the school office open?
-parents wishing to make enquiries at the school office can do so from 8.30am
How will I receive information from the school?
- white board outside school fence.
- notices on school main entrance door.
- letters in your youngest child’s book bag on Mondays & Thursdays or through email if specifically requested.
How do we return forms etc. back to the school?
-we would like to support your child’s independence by letting them take responsibility for handling messages or money for lunch/trips etc. to the class teacher at the start of each day.
-any money must be in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and class.
-if any change is needed this will be returned to you via your child. This will help to make the office less crowded in the mornings.
When will we get P.E. kit back for washing?
- It will be sent home with your child on Friday’s after school.
What do we do about lost property?
- the office does not hold lost property.
- there are net baskets outside the class rooms, feel free to look after school.
What do we do if we have a complaint?
- speak initially to your child’s class teacher.
- contact the headteacher for advice.
Can our pre-school children use the Play Trail?
- the Play Trail can only be used on Friday’s after school with proper parental supervision.
- the school accepts no liability for any personal injury.
Can our children bring snacks to school?
- children are encouraged to bring in healthy snacks for morning (* not afternoon) playtime and offered a healthy alternative if unhealthy snacks are brought in. This snack can then be eaten at lunch time or taken home.
- there is a healthy snack shop at morning play from which snacks can be bought at the cost of 25p per item.
- children will be expected to manage their money for this themselves.
- in the KS1 year groups a fruit or veg. snack is provided by Hants County Council for afternoon play.
When does the school day start and end?
- children are supervised on the play ground from 8.40am, a whistle is blown at 8.55am to get the children’s attention then the second whistle is the signal to line up and then file into school. Please don’t leave your children before 8.40 am.
- the school day ends at 3.30pm and the children are collected from the play ground.
- the younger children will only be released once the collecting adult has been recognised.
- please let the school know if you are unavoidably delayed so that your child can wait in the reception area.
What if I cannot collect my child myself?
- please inform the class teacher and provide a note giving the name of the person to collect your child.
- If it is a last minute arrangement please call the office to let them know who is collecting your child and they will inform the class teacher.
What if my child is ill and is unable to come to school?
- please call the office before 9.00a.m. or a note of unauthorised absence will be made in the register.
- please note that medicines will not be administered by the school, should antibiotics or such medicines need to be administered you will have to come in to school and do it yourself.
- all absences must be followed up with a letter to the teacher.
Are there any after school clubs available?
- there are a number of school clubs which run from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
- information on these is given out via the children’s book bags.
- any last minute cancellations will be written on the white board outside the school gates.
- parents are asked to collect their child promptly.
- if a child no longer wishes to attend a club, please inform the teacher concerned so that their place can be re-allocated.
Swimming
- swimming takes place in the summer and early part of the Autumn term.
- notices with regard to swimming will be given out in book bags and via the white board by the school gates.
- swimming kit will be taken home at the end of the school day as there is no drying room to be able to store and dry it.
Are music lessons available?
There are opportunities to learn brass, percussion, strings, woodwind & keyboard instruments. These lessons are paid for a term in advance by parents. The office can give the up to date cost. Instruments can also be hired through the school. Children from Year 2 have this opportunity.
What is Shared Assembly?
- once or twice a term your child’s class will lead assembly on a Friday morning.
- all parents of children in that class are invited to join us. Assembly starts at 9.10a.m.
Holidays
-Holidays should not be taken during term time
-Discretionary leave of absence may be granted by the Head teacher but only in exceptional circumstances and only for a maximum of 10 days per academic year.
School Uniform
- Girls : White shirts or polo shirts
Grey skirts or pinafores or grey school trousers
Blue school sweat shirts or cardigan with school logo
White, grey or black socks or black tights – no coloured tights
Black shoes (if possible) – not trainers
Summer dresses in blue or yellow stripes or gingham
- Boys : White shirts or polo shirts
Grey trousers or shorts
Blue school sweat shirt or cardigan with school logo
Dark socks and black shoes (if possible) – not trainers
- P.E. kit for Boys and Girls
White T-shirt with gold Kimpton logo
Navy shorts
Plimsolls or trainers when lessons are outside
Swimsuit and towel for the summer
Tracksuit for outside in cold weather (preferably dark blue)
Socks for girls who in winter wear tights
Named drawstring bag
P.E. kit should be in school every day
Please ensure all school and P.E. uniform is clearly named!!
Jewellery
- Jewellery should not be worn, it is unsafe within a school environment
- the school will not accept any liability for the loss of any jewellery or any injury incurred by the wearing of it
- please understand that this is for the welfare of your children
Can I help in school?
- Parents are always welcome in school to help in the classroom , on trips and for events. Please speak to the class teacher if you would like to come in.
